Visit from Severn Trent
We were delighted to welcome a visitor from Severn Trent Water who led a special assembly for our pupils. The children learned about the importance of looking after our drains and pipes by remembering the 3 Ps – only pee, poo, and paper should go down the toilet. They explored how flushing the wrong items, such as wipes or cotton buds, can cause blockages that damage homes and the environment.
The session also focused on using water wisely. Pupils discussed everyday ways to save water, such as turning off the tap while brushing teeth, taking shorter showers instead of baths, and collecting rainwater to water plants. They were surprised to discover how much water simple changes can save over time!
The assembly encouraged everyone to think about how their small actions can make a big difference. The children left with a stronger understanding of how to protect our water systems and use this precious resource sensibly – lessons they can share with their families too.
