In English this week we have been looking at the story of 'Super Worm' and creating a character profile using adjectives to describe the appearance and personality of Super Worm.
In Maths we have been subtracting using a number line, 100 square and tillich.
In Topic this week we have been out in the school grounds looking at human (man made) and physical (natural) features and linking this to habitats of minibeasts in Science. We have been drawing our own maps/plans of the school from a birds eye view. We have also been predicting and recording the weather linking it to the seasons.
We have completed all our SATs tests. Fantastic effort by all children.
In Topic we have been sorting objects into living, non-living and never lived.
This week Aimee was a Polly Planner learning hero. Our attendance this week was 96.3% and our school target of 96.1%
This week we celebrated our Mathematics in a celebration assembly Corey W was awarded a certificate and a ruler.
Year 2 have been revising hard in Maths ready for their tests next week.
In Maths this week Year 1 have been working with money. Making amounts to different values and understanding the value of each coin.
In English they have been continuing their work creating a Leaflet about the lifecycle of a frog. The Year 1 have also been working on writing complete sentences that make sense and using question words to start a question - who, what, where, why and how.
In Science we have been learning to label the structure of a tree. They have also been looking at evergreen and deciduous trees.
In Geography we have been looking at the human and physical features of the school environment.
Year 2 have been working really hard this week, we have practised our reading and maths SAT's papers and started on the first reading paper. We will be continuing with SAT's texts next week.
We have also been in Gruffalo Wood looking for minibeasts and we have looked in the pond and found frog spawn and tadpoles. We have been finding out about the space seeds, Tim Peake sent us 100 red and blue seeds. We are growing them and sending the data back to the European Space Agency.
We have started writing a leaflet about the lifecycle of the frog with a title page, contents, sub headings and diagrams.
In Mathematics Year 1 have been learning to tell the time to o'clock, half past and some have extended to quarter past.
In English Year 1 have been looking at non-fiction books about the lifecycle of a frog and writing a leaflet using the information they have found.
In Science Year 1 have been sorting plants into wild and garden plants and learning the name of common plants and flowers.

In Mathematics we have been practising our number skills. Year 2's have had practise SAT's and been looking at different ways to solve number problems. Year 1's have been working on repeated addition and multiplication problems.
In English we have been continuing with our Cinderalla stories with alternative endings. We have been using full stops, capital letters, conjunctions (so, but, and , then, because) and adjectives and adverbs.
We have written Spring Poems using our thoughts and feelings about spring. We have tried to use alliteration, rhyme and similes.
In Topic we have been looking at the habitats and microhabitats of minibeasts.

In Mathematics this week we have been continuing work on fractions and linking this learning with division. We have been learning to read numbers on scales of 2, 5, 10, 50 and even 25 and fill in the missing numbers. We have also been problem solving related to minibeasts.
In English we have been writing stories about Cinderella. We planned our writing using a story mountain looking at the structure of a story, beginning, build up, problem and resolution. We have also been thinking of alternative endings using questions like 'What if the Prince married the ugly step sister' to change the ending.
In our Topic work we have been sorting minibeasts by different criteria fly/not fly, legs/no legs. Year 2 also sorted using 2 way sorting on land/water and legs/no legs. We have also been looking at the structure of plants and tress and labelling the parts.
This week Zinedine was awarded the Handwriting award and our attendance was 93.3% our school target is 96.1%
This week in English we have been writing riddles about minibeasts. We used adjectives, adverbs and adverbial phrases to give extra detail. We remembered to put the easiest clues last.
We have finished glittering and adding detail to our minibeasts. They look fantastic flying around our classroom.
We have continued researching to find interesting facts about minibeasts. Year 2 have been practising their SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar)
In Mathematics we have been learning about fractions of numbers. We have found 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 of different numbers by dividing by 2, 3 or 4. We also found 2/3 or 2/4 of a number.
On Thursday we had a wonderful experience in the mobile planetarium. We looked at the stars and planets and learnt lots of new facts about space. It was a very exciting and also very informative morning.
This week the handwriting award was given to Hannah and Lucas was our Polly Planner learning hero. Our attendance was 77.4% and our school target is 96.1%
This week we have started our topic on Minibeasts. We have created minibeasts using newspaper, masking tape and cardboard. We have scrunched, rolled and wrapped newspaper to create boaies and wings. We have learnt to create joints for the legs and fixed together securely.
We have started to research about Minibeasts and their habitats.
In Mathematics we have been learning about fractions of shapes and beginning to recognise equivalent fractions 1/2 = 2/4
In English Year 2 have been working on grammar skills and looking at using verbs, adjectives, adverbs and nouns correctly. We have been learning to write in the correct tense. We have also been using conjunctions to join two sentences together. Year 1 have been listening to the story 'The Bad Tempered Ladbybird' They have sequenced and created planners and written sentences using time adverbials. They have also written speech bubbles showing the speech between the 2 ladybirds.
This week the handwriting award was given to Hannah and Corey W was our Billy Buddy learning hero. We had the most improved attendance of 95.6% and our school target is 96.1%
